Fall Changes

First let me apologize for not posting more often. I guess that is why this blog is geared to Baby Boomers; we don't sweat the small stuff anymore! Blessings like having grown children visit home seem to interrupt the internet communication that seems so vital when loved ones are far away.

Both our kids live very far away in New Zealand although they are close to each other (2 1/2 hours). My husband and I live in Colorado where our kids were born and raised. Just giving "mom" time by cookin', cleanin', listenin' and feeding them is about all I have been able to handle after many years of being an empty nester. I realize that I could just have entered short blogs, but somehow that just wasn't enough for me.

Enter a Fall change - frequent blogs from now on!
One cyclic Fall change is indoor and outdoor cleaning. We (husband and I), have definitely put in our time with this before the kid's visit, during, and since! Luckily our son-in-law chopped wood, touched up painted the outside of the house, did some mudding on a porch ceiling, helped pick out new wood closet doors, stain and hang them, and countless other chores. Thanks Trevor!

For inside housecleaning I thought I'd mention something different that I've tried. Since there is so much value in practicing "green" methods in cleaning, plus I really despise using chemicals with names that I can barely pronounce or have a clue what evils they perform, I made a change with the dreaded toilet bowl. Now I just dump some white vinegar and baking soda in the toilet and let it bubble for awhile. Then the scrub brush action is very easy and over quickly. I figured I have been using vinegar and baking soda to remove tea and coffee stains for most of my cleaning life that I might as well use it in the big porcelain bowl too. Try it, you'll like it. No nasty chem smell either.

There are a number of options available for safe cleaning products. One of them is a downloadable e-book titled The Green Clean Book. It has a 100% money back guarantee and offers non toxic, environmentally friendly cleaning products.
